The Bowflex PR1000 is unit is extremely sturdy and well put together. There are lots of exercises you can do, both muscular and cardio and you can really feel it. It folds up, has the option of a full flat bench or slanted back. Assembly was really simple except for the seat bar that almost needs two people for to balance out.
Everything was easy to put together and the machine looks incredible. It works your body just like free weights do. You will probably spend the same amount that you pay for this thing over a two year period with a gym that does not belong to you at all.
You can workout at home at anytime you want and not have to worry about how you look, the weather or the extra expense of driving all the way over there. It was exactly as advertised and at a fair price. The free delivery also added to its attraction.
The ability to fold it up also prevents you from using up a lot of space on a permanent basis. The Bowflex PR1000 Home Gym is easy to assemble and is nice and quiet during the workout. No clanging of weights. The maximum weight is not enough to do leg press with low number of reps, but you can buy the heavier rod set.
On the other hand, this unit’s maximum resistance cannot be upgraded. It’s rated for 210 lbs, but it doesn’t even come close to that free-weight equivalent. The resistance numbers are arbitrary. For example, the resistance of a combination of a 30-lb and a 20-lb rod feels half as heavy as a 50-lb rod.
The only other drawback is that there is not enough weight to work the legs. This unit is not upgradeable but probably can add 100lbs of rods if you cut out a portions of a protective bar that probably only exists to make it non-upgradable.
The online reviews we found for Bowflex PR1000 are mostly positive. There are few drawbacks but this product was able to get high rating in online reviews due to its portability, nice features, versatility and good performance.
